Our Commitment to the Environment
Growing up in Colorado we can't help but appreciate the beauty of our environment. Every part of the process in producing our books keeps that in mind. We are working closely within the guidelines set forth by The Rainforest Alliance and the Forest Stewardship Counsel to leave the smallest carbon footprint possible.
How does MJM help?
- All of our books are printed on 100% recycled paper
- Each book we print is one-of-a-kind, which means that we don't have any unused or wasted inventory
- Jeff still doesn't own a car
- We make Matt wear the same underwear two days in a row
Our Commitment to the Community
Strong communities are built upon strong families. We think that a bedtime routine is a great way to share each evening with your little ones and improve literacy. We hope that one of our stories will make it into steady rotation at bedtime in your home.
Little brother, Jeff, writes:
By the third grade, I was reading Jurassic Park and other novels by my then favorite author, Michael Crichton. Recently, I realized that third graders don’t usually read novels quite so avidly and I asked our mom how I learned to read so early and enthusiastically. Was I “Hooked on Phonics” or some other early reading program? “No,” she said surprised, “I just read to you.”
Then all those tuckings-in with my favorite stories jumped back into my brain: Amos and his Amazing Couch, Tacky the Penguin, The Cat in the Hat. I hope our stories can become one of those beloved memories in your family.
MJM Books also contributes a portion of its volunteer time and proceeds to the non-profit, after-school tutoring program 826CHI in Chicago. 826CHI is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. They provide drop-in tutoring, after-school workshops, in-school tutoring, help for English language learners, and assistance with student publications.
